Giordano Bruno's 1584 dialogue arguing for an infinite universe containing infinite inhabited worlds — the foundational early-modern statement of cosmic infinity and the plurality of worlds. Bruno was burned by the Roman Inquisition in 1600 partly for these cosmological-theological doctrines. The corpus engages it as the principal philosophical antecedent of the Cosmic Chain's infinite-cosmos premise.
