Afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, whom he took as wife when he was sixty years old; and she bore him Segub.

Their brothers, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them:

They stayed around God’s house, because that duty was on them; and to their duty was its opening morning by morning.

The Philistines followed hard after Saul and after his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.

Und der Streit wurde heftig wider Saul, und es erreichten ihn die Bogenschützen; und es wurde ihm angst vor den Schützen.
The battle went hard against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was distressed by reason of the archers.

Da sprach Saul zu seinem Waffenträger: Ziehe dein Schwert und durchbohre mich damit, daß nicht diese Unbeschnittenen kommen und mich mißhandeln! Sein Waffenträger aber wollte nicht, denn er fürchtete sich sehr. Da nahm Saul das Schwert und stürzte sich darein.
Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me.”
But his armor bearer would not; for he was terrified. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell on it.

Und als sein Waffenträger sah, daß Saul tot war, da stürzte auch er sich in das Schwert und starb.
When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died.

So starben Saul und seine drei Söhne; und sein ganzes Haus starb zugleich.
So Saul died with his three sons; and all his house died together.

Und als alle Männer von Israel, die im Tale waren, sahen, daß sie geflohen und daß Saul und seine Söhne tot waren, da verließen sie ihre Städte und flohen; und die Philister kamen und wohnten darin.
When all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.

Und es geschah am folgenden Tage, da kamen die Philister, um die Erschlagenen auszuziehen; und sie fanden Saul und seine Söhne auf dem Gebirge Gilboa liegen.
On the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

Und sie zogen ihn aus und nahmen seinen Kopf und seine Waffen; und sie sandten in das Land der Philister ringsumher, um die frohe Botschaft ihren Götzen und dem Volke zu verkünden.
They stripped him, and took his head and his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines all around, to carry the news to their idols, and to the people.

They put his armor in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon.

Als aber ganz Jabes-Gilead alles hörte, was die Philister mit Saul getan hatten,
When all Jabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,

da machten sich alle tapferen Männer auf und nahmen den Leichnam Sauls und die Leichname seiner Söhne und brachten sie nach Jabes; und sie begruben ihre Gebeine unter der Terebinthe zu Jabes und fasteten sieben Tage.
all the valiant men arose, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

Und so starb Saul wegen seiner Treulosigkeit, die er wider Jehova begangen, betreffs des Wortes Jehovas, das er nicht beobachtet hatte, und auch weil er eine Totenbeschwörerin aufsuchte, um sie zu befragen;
So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Yahweh, because of Yahweh’s word, which he didn’t keep; and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire,

aber Jehova befragte er nicht. Darum tötete er ihn und wandte das Königtum David, dem Sohne Isais, zu.
and didn’t inquire of Yahweh. Therefore he killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.

Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

Schon früher, schon als Saul König war, bist du es gewesen, der Israel aus- und einführte; und Jehova, dein Gott, hat zu dir gesagt: Du sollst mein Volk Israel weiden, und du sollst Fürst sein über mein Volk Israel.
In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”

Und alle Ältesten Israels kamen zu dem König nach Hebron, und David machte einen Bund mit ihnen zu Hebron, vor Jehova; und sie salbten David zum König über Israel, nach dem Worte Jehovas durch Samuel.
So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to Yahweh’s word by Samuel.

Und David und ganz Israel zogen nach Jerusalem, das ist Jebus; und daselbst waren die Jebusiter, die Bewohner des Landes.
David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (also called Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.

Und die Bewohner von Jebus sprachen zu David: Du wirst nicht hier hereinkommen! Aber David nahm die Burg Zion ein, das ist die Stadt Davids.
The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here.” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is David’s city.

Und David sprach: Wer die Jebusiter zuerst schlägt, soll Haupt und Oberster werden. Da stieg Joab, der Sohn der Zeruja, zuerst hinauf, und er wurde zum Haupte.
David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.

Und David wohnte in der Burg; darum nannte man sie Stadt Davids.
David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it David’s city.

Und er baute die Stadt ringsum, von dem Millo an rund umher. Und Joab erneuerte das Übrige der Stadt.
He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

Und David wurde immerfort größer, und Jehova der Heerscharen war mit ihm.
David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh of Armies was with him.

Und dies sind die Häupter der Helden, welche David hatte, die ihm mit ganz Israel mutig beistanden in seinem Königtum, um ihn zum König zu machen, nach dem Worte Jehovas über Israel.
Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to Yahweh’s word concerning Israel.

Und dies ist die Zahl der Helden, welche David hatte: Jaschobam, der Sohn Hakmonis, das Haupt der Anführer; er schwang seinen Speer wider dreihundert, die er auf einmal erschlug.
This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.

Und nach ihm Eleasar, der Sohn Dodos, der Achochiter; er war unter den drei Helden.
After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.

Er war mit David zu Pas-Dammim, als die Philister daselbst versammelt waren zum Streit. Und dort war ein Ackerstück voll Gerste; und das Volk floh vor den Philistern.
He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

Da stellten sie sich mitten auf das Stück und retteten es und schlugen die Philister; und Jehova schaffte eine große Rettung.
They stood in the middle of the plot, defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh saved them by a great victory.

Und drei von den dreißig Häuptern ging zu dem Felsen hinab zu David, in die Höhle Adullam; und das Heer der Philister lagerte im Tale Rephaim.
Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

David aber war damals auf der Bergfeste, und eine Aufstellung der Philister war damals zu Bethlehem.
David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was in Bethlehem at that time.

Und David hatte ein Gelüste und sprach: Wer wird mich mit Wasser tränken aus der Zisterne zu Bethlehem, die am Tore ist?
David longed, and said, “Oh that one would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”

Da brachen die Drei durch das Lager der Philister und schöpften Wasser aus der Zisterne von Bethlehem, die am Tore ist, und trugen und brachten es zu David. Aber David wollte es nicht trinken und goß es aus als Trankopfer dem Jehova;
The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink any of it, but poured it out to Yahweh,

und er sprach: Das lasse mein Gott fern von mir sein, daß ich solches tue! Sollte ich das Blut dieser Männer trinken, die mit Gefahr ihres Lebens hingegangen sind? Denn mit Gefahr ihres Lebens haben sie es gebracht. Und er wollte es nicht trinken. Das taten die drei Helden.
and said, “My God forbid me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.

Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain; however he wasn’t included in the three.

Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, der Sohn eines tapferen Mannes, groß an Taten, von Kabzeel; selbiger erschlug zwei Löwen von Moab. Und er stieg hinab und erschlug den Löwen in der Grube an einem Schneetage.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.

Und er war es, der den ägyptischen Mann erschlug, einen Mann von fünf Ellen Länge. Und der Ägypter hatte einen Speer in der Hand wie einen Weberbaum; er aber ging zu ihm hinab mit einem Stabe, und riß dem Ägypter den Speer aus der Hand und tötete ihn mit seinem eigenen Speere.
He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high. In the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men.

Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three; and David set him over his guard.

They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in slinging stones and in shooting arrows from the bow. They were of Saul’s relatives of the tribe of Benjamin.

These are those who went over the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed all its banks; and they put to flight all who lived in the valleys, both toward the east and toward the west.

Some of the children of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David.

Und David ging hinaus, ihnen entgegen, und er hob an und sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ihr zum Frieden zu mir gekommen seid, um mir zu helfen, so wird mein Herz sich mit euch vereinigen; wenn aber, um mich an meine Feinde zu verraten, ohne daß Unrecht in meiner Hand ist, so möge der Gott unserer Väter es sehen und strafen!
David went out to meet them, and answered them, “If you have come peaceably to me to help me, my heart will be united with you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers see this and rebuke it.”

Then the Spirit came on Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, and he said, “We are yours, David, and on your side, you son of Jesse. Peace, peace be to you, and peace be to your helpers; for your God helps you.” Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

Und von Manasse liefen einige zu David über, als er mit den Philistern wider Saul in den Streit zog; aber sie halfen ihnen nicht; denn nachdem sie Rat gehalten hatten, entließen ihn die Fürsten der Philister, indem sie sprachen: Auf Gefahr unserer Köpfe könnte er zu seinem Herrn Saul überlaufen!
Some of Manasseh also joined David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle; but they didn’t help them; for the lords of the Philistines sent him away after consultation, saying, “He will desert to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.”

As he went to Ziklag, some from Manasseh joined him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, captains of thousands who were of Manasseh.

Und sie halfen David wider die Streifschar, denn tapfere Helden waren sie alle; und sie wurden Oberste im Heere.
They helped David against the band of rovers; for they were all mighty men of valor, and were captains in the army.

Denn es kamen von Tag zu Tage zu David, um ihm zu helfen, bis es ein großes Heerlager wurde, wie ein Heerlager Gottes.
For from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like God’s army.

These are the numbers of the heads of those who were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to Yahweh’s word.

Of the children of Benjamin, Saul’s relatives, three thousand: for until then, the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to Saul’s house.

Of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand eight hundred, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers’ houses.

Of the half-tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who were mentioned by name, to come and make David king.

Und von den Kindern Issaschar: Männer, welche Einsicht hatten in die Zeiten, um zu wissen, was Israel tun mußte; ihre Häupter, 200; und alle ihre Brüder folgten ihrem Befehl.
Of the children of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their heads were two hundred; and all their brothers were at their command.

Von Sebulon: die zum Heere auszogen, mit allen Kriegswaffen zum Kampfe bereit, 50000, und zwar um sich in Schlachtreihen zu ordnen mit ungeteiltem Herzen.
Of Zebulun, such as were able to go out in the army, who could set the battle in array, with all kinds of instruments of war, fifty thousand, and who could command and were not of double heart.

Und von Naphtali: 1000 Oberste; und mit ihnen 37000 mit Schild und Speer.
Of Naphtali one thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty-seven thousand.

On the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites, the Gadites, and of the half-tribe of Manasseh, with all kinds of instruments of war for the battle, one hundred twenty thousand.

Alle diese Kriegsleute, die sich in Schlachtreihen ordneten, kamen mit ungeteiltem Herzen nach Hebron, um David zum König über ganz Israel zu machen. Und auch alle übrigen in Israel waren eines Herzens, David zum König zu machen.
All these were men of war, who could order the battle array, and came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

Und sie waren daselbst bei David drei Tage, und aßen und tranken; denn ihre Brüder hatten für sie zugerichtet.
They were there with David three days, eating and drinking; for their brothers had supplied provisions for them.
40
Und auch die ihnen nahe wohnten, bis nach Issaschar und Sebulon und Naphtali hin, brachten Lebensmittel auf Eseln und auf Kamelen und auf Maultieren und auf Rindern: Mehlspeisen, Feigenkuchen und Rosinenkuchen, und Wein und Öl, und Rinder und Kleinvieh in Menge; denn es war Freude in Israel.
Moreover those who were near to them, as far as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali, brought bread on donkeys, on camels, on mules, and on oxen: supplies of flour, cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, wine, oil, cattle, and sheep in abundance; for there was joy in Israel.

Und David sprach zu der ganzen Versammlung Israels: Wenn es euch gut dünkt, und wenn es von Jehova, unserem Gott, ist, so laßt uns allenthalben umhersenden zu unseren übrigen Brüdern in allen Landen Israels, und mit ihnen zu den Priestern und zu den Leviten in den Städten ihrer Bezirke, daß sie sich zu uns versammeln.
David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of Yahweh our God, let us send word everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us.

Und wir wollen die Lade unseres Gottes zu uns herüberholen; denn wir haben sie in den Tagen Sauls nicht befragt.
Also, let us again bring the ark of our God back to us; for we didn’t seek it in the days of Saul.”

Und die ganze Versammlung sprach, daß man also tun sollte; denn die Sache war recht in den Augen des ganzen Volkes.
All the assembly said that they would do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

Und David versammelte ganz Israel, von dem Sihor Ägyptens bis nach Hamath hin, um die Lade Gottes von Kirjath-Jearim zu bringen.
So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor the brook of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, to bring God’s ark from Kiriath Jearim.

Und David und ganz Israel zogen hinauf nach Baala, nach Kirjath-Jearim, das zu Juda gehört, um von dannen die Lade Gottes, Jehovas, heraufzuholen, der zwischen den Cherubim thront, dessen Name dort angerufen wird.
David went up with all Israel to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there God Yahweh’s ark that sits above the cherubim, that is called by the Name.

Und sie fuhren die Lade Gottes auf einem neuen Wagen aus dem Hause Abinadabs weg; und Ussa und Achjo führten den Wagen.
They carried God’s ark on a new cart, and brought it out of Abinadab’s house; and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.

Und David und ganz Israel spielten vor Gott mit aller Kraft: mit Gesängen und mit Lauten und mit Harfen und mit Tamburinen und mit Zimbeln und mit Trompeten.
David and all Israel played before God with all their might, even with songs, with harps, with stringed instruments, with tambourines, with cymbals, and with trumpets.

Und als sie zur Tenne Kidon kamen, da streckte Ussa seine Hand aus, um die Lade anzufassen; denn die Rinder hatten sich losgerissen.
When they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

Da entbrannte der Zorn Jehovas wider Ussa, und er schlug ihn, darum daß er seine Hand nach der Lade ausgestreckt hatte; und er starb daselbst vor Gott.
Yahweh’s anger burned against Uzza, and he struck him, because he put his hand on the ark; and he died there before God.

Und David entbrannte, weil Jehova einen Bruch an Ussa gemacht hatte; und er nannte jenen Ort Perez-Ussa, bis auf diesen Tag.
David was displeased, because Yahweh had broken out against Uzza. He called that place Perez Uzza, to this day.

Und David fürchtete sich vor Gott an selbigem Tage und sprach: Wie soll ich die Lade Gottes zu mir bringen?
David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How can I bring God’s ark home to me?”

Und David ließ die Lade nicht zu sich einkehren in die Stadt Davids; und er ließ sie beiseite bringen in das Haus Obed-Edoms, des Gathiters.
So David didn’t move the ark with him into David’s city, but carried it aside into Obed-Edom the Gittite’s house.

Und die Lade Gottes blieb bei der Familie Obed-Edoms, in seinem Hause, drei Monate. Und Jehova segnete das Haus Obed-Edoms und alles, was sein war.
God’s ark remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months; and Yahweh blessed Obed-Edom’s house and all that he had.

Und Hiram, der König von Tyrus, sandte Boten zu David, und Zedernholz und Mauerleute und Zimmerleute, damit sie ihm ein Haus bauten.
Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.

Und David erkannte, daß Jehova ihn zum König über Israel bestätigt hatte; denn sein Königreich war hoch erhoben um seines Volkes Israel willen.
David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel’s sake.

Und David nahm noch Weiber in Jerusalem, und David zeugte noch Söhne und Töchter.
David took more wives at Jerusalem, and David became the father of more sons and daughters.

Und dies sind die Namen derer, welche ihm in Jerusalem geboren wurden: Schammua und Schobab, Nathan und Salomo,
These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

Und als die Philister hörten, daß David zum König über ganz Israel gesalbt worden war, da zogen alle Philister herauf, um David zu suchen. Und David hörte es und zog ihnen entgegen.
When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went out against them.

Und die Philister kamen und breiteten sich aus im Tale Rephaim.
Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.

Und David befragte Gott und sprach: Soll ich wider die Philister hinaufziehen, und wirst du sie in meine Hand geben? Und Jehova sprach zu ihm: Ziehe hinauf, und ich werde sie in deine Hand geben.
David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?”
Yahweh said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.”

Da zogen sie hinauf nach Baal-Perazim, und David schlug sie daselbst; und David sprach: Gott hat meine Feinde durch meine Hand durchbrochen, gleich einem Wasserdurchbruch. Daher gab man jenem Orte den Namen Baal-Perazim.
So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like waters breaking out. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

Und sie ließen daselbst ihre Götter; und David gab Befehl, und sie wurden mit Feuer verbrannt.
They left their gods there; and David gave a command, and they were burned with fire.

Und die Philister zogen wiederum herauf und breiteten sich aus im Tale.
The Philistines made a another raid in the valley.
14
Und David befragte Gott abermals; und Gott sprach zu ihm: Du sollst nicht hinaufziehen ihnen nach; wende dich von ihnen ab, daß du an sie kommst, den Bakabäumen gegenüber.
David inquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them opposite the mulberry trees.

Und sobald du das Geräusch eines Daherschreitens in den Wipfeln der Bakabäume hörst, alsdann sollst du zum Angriff schreiten; denn Gott ist vor dir ausgezogen, um das Heerlager der Philister zu schlagen.
When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”

Und David tat, so wie Gott ihm geboten hatte; und sie schlugen das Heerlager der Philister von Gibeon bis nach Geser.
David did as God commanded him; and they attacked the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

Und der Name Davids ging aus in alle Länder, und Jehova legte die Furcht vor ihm auf alle Nationen.
The fame of David went out into all lands; and Yahweh brought the fear of him on all nations.

Und er machte sich Häuser in der Stadt Davids, und er bereitete einen Ort für die Lade Gottes und schlug ein Zelt für sie auf.
David made himself houses in David’s city; and he prepared a place for God’s ark, and pitched a tent for it.

Damals sprach David: Die Lade Gottes soll niemand tragen als nur die Leviten; denn sie hat Jehova erwählt, um die Lade Gottes zu tragen und seinen Dienst zu verrichten ewiglich.
Then David said, “No one ought to carry God’s ark but the Levites. For Yahweh has chosen them to carry God’s ark, and to minister to him forever.”

Und David versammelte ganz Israel nach Jerusalem, um die Lade Jehovas an ihren Ort hinaufzubringen, den er für sie bereitet hatte.
David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up Yahweh’s ark to its place, which he had prepared for it.

David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:

of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers one hundred twenty;

of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred twenty;

von den Söhnen Gersoms: Joel, den Obersten, und seine Brüder, 130;
of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brothers one hundred thirty;

von den Söhnen Elizaphans: Schemaja, den Obersten, und seine Brüder, 200;
of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred;

von den Söhnen Hebrons: Eliel, den Obersten, und seine Brüder, 80;

Und David berief Zadok und Abjathar, die Priester, und die Leviten Uriel, Asaja und Joel, Schemaja und Eliel und Amminadab,
David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,

und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr seid die Häupter der Väter der Leviten; heiliget euch, ihr und eure Brüder, und bringet die Lade Jehovas, des Gottes Israels, hinauf an den Ort, welchen ich für sie bereitet habe.
and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, up to the place that I have prepared for it.

Denn weil ihr das vorige Mal es nicht tatet, so machte Jehova, unser Gott, einen Bruch unter uns, weil wir ihn nicht suchten nach der Vorschrift.
For because you didn’t carry it at first, Yahweh our God broke out in anger against us, because we didn’t seek him according to the ordinance.”

Da heiligten sich die Priester und die Leviten, um die Lade Jehovas, des Gottes Israels, hinaufzubringen.
So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel.
15
Und die Söhne der Leviten trugen die Lade Gottes auf ihren Schultern, indem sie die Stangen auf sich legten, so wie Mose geboten hatte nach dem Worte Jehovas.
The children of the Levites bore God’s ark on their shoulders with its poles, as Moses commanded according to Yahweh’s word.

Und David befahl den Obersten der Leviten, ihre Brüder, die Sänger, mit Musikinstrumenten, Harfen und Lauten und Zimbeln zu bestellen, damit sie laut spielten, indem sie die Stimme erhöben mit Freude.
David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up their voices with joy.

Und die Leviten bestellten Heman, den Sohn Joels, und von seinen Brüdern Asaph, den Sohn Berekjas; und von den Söhnen Meraris, ihren Brüdern, Ethan, den Sohn Kuschajas;
So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

und mit ihnen ihre Brüder zweiten Ranges: Sekarja, Ben und Jaasiel und Schemiramoth und Jechiel und Unni, Eliab und Benaja und Maaseja und Mattithja und Elipheleh und Mikneja und Obed-Edom und Jeghiel, die Torhüter; -
and with them their brothers of the second rank, Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.

und zwar die Sänger Heman, Asaph und Ethan, mit ehernen Zimbeln, um laut zu spielen;
So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of brass to sound aloud;

und Sekarja und Asiel und Schemiramoth und Jechiel und Unni und Eliab und Maaseja und Benaja mit Harfen auf Alamoth;
and Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;

und Mattithja und Elipheleh und Mikneja und Obed-Edom und Jeghiel und Asasja mit Lauten auf Scheminith: um den Gesang zu leiten.
and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight-stringed lyre, to lead.

Und Kenanja war der Anführer der Leviten im Gesang; er unterwies im Gesang, denn er war kundig darin.
Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the singing. He taught the singers, because he was skillful.

Und Berekja und Elkana waren Torhüter der Lade.
Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
24
Und Schebanja und Josaphat und Nethaneel und Amasai und Sekarja und Benaja und Elieser, die Priester, schmetterten mit den Trompeten vor der Lade Gottes her. Und Obed-Edom und Jechija waren Torhüter der Lade.
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before God’s ark; and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

Und so zogen David und die Ältesten von Israel und die Obersten über tausend hin, um die Lade des Bundes Jehovas aus dem Hause Obed-Edoms heraufzuholen mit Freuden.
So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring the ark of Yahweh’s covenant up out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.

Und es geschah, da Gott den Leviten half, welche die Lade des Bundes Jehovas trugen, so opferten sie sieben Farren und sieben Widder.
When God helped the Levites who bore the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

Und David war angetan mit einem Oberkleide von Byssus, ebenso alle Leviten, welche die Lade trugen, und die Sänger und Kenanja, der Anführer des Gesanges der Sänger; und David trug ein leinenes Ephod.
David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the choir master with the singers; and David had an ephod of linen on him.

Und ganz Israel brachte die Lade des Bundes Jehovas hinauf mit Jauchzen und mit Posaunenschall und mit Trompeten und mit Zimbeln, laut spielend mit Harfen und Lauten.
Thus all Israel brought the ark of Yahweh’s covenant up with shouting, with sound of the cornet, with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.

Und es geschah, als die Lade des Bundes Jehovas in die Stadt Davids kam, da schaute Michal, die Tochter Sauls, durchs Fenster; und sie sah den König David hüpfen und spielen, und sie verachtete ihn in ihrem Herzen.
As the ark of Yahweh’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.

Und sie brachten die Lade Gottes hinein, und stellten sie innerhalb des Zeltes, das David für sie aufgeschlagen hatte. Und sie brachten Brandopfer und Friedensopfer dar vor Gott.
They brought in God’s ark, and set it in the middle of the tent that David had pitched for it; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

Und als David das Opfern der Brandopfer und der Friedensopfer beendigt hatte, segnete er das Volk im Namen Jehovas;
When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in Yahweh’s name.

und er verteilte an ganz Israel, vom Manne bis zum Weibe, an jeden einen Laib Brot und einen Trunk Wein und einen Rosinenkuchen.
He gave to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins.

Und er bestellte vor die Lade Jehovas einige von den Leviten als Diener, daß sie Jehovas, des Gottes Israels, gedächten und ihn priesen und rühmten:
He appointed some of the Levites to minister before Yahweh’s ark, and to commemorate, to thank, and to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel:

Asaph, das Haupt, und Sekarja, den zweiten nach ihm, Jeghiel und Schemiramoth und Jeghiel und Mattithja und Eliab und Benaja und Obed-Edom und Jeghiel, mit Harfinstrumenten und mit Lauten; und Asaph ließ die Zimbeln erklingen;
Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, with stringed instruments and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding aloud;

und Benaja und Jachasiel, die Priester, waren beständig mit Trompeten vor der Lade des Bundes Gottes.
with Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.

Damals, an jenem Tage, trug David zum ersten Male Asaph und seinen Brüdern auf, Jehova zu preisen:
Then on that day David first ordained to give thanks to Yahweh, by the hand of Asaph and his brothers.

Preiset Jehova, rufet seinen Namen an, machet kund unter den Völkern seine Taten!
Oh give thanks to Yahweh.
Call on his name.
Make what he has done known among the peoples.
9
Singet ihm, singet ihm Psalmen; sinnet über alle seine Wunderwerke!
Sing to him.
Sing praises to him.
Tell of all his marvelous works.
10
Rühmet euch seines heiligen Namens! es freue sich das Herz derer, die Jehova suchen!
Glory in his holy name.
Let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.
11
Trachtet nach Jehova und seiner Stärke, suchet sein Angesicht beständig!
Seek Yahweh and his strength.
Seek his face forever more.
12
Gedenket seiner Wunderwerke, die er getan hat, seiner Wunderzeichen und der Gerichte seines Mundes!
Remember his marvelous works that he has done,
his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth,
13
Du Same Israels, sein Knecht, ihr Söhne Jakobs, seine Auserwählten!
you offspring of Israel his servant,
you children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
14
Er, Jehova, ist unser Gott; seine Gerichte sind auf der ganzen Erde.
He is Yahweh our God.
His judgments are in all the earth.
15
Gedenket ewiglich seines Bundes, des Wortes, das er geboten hat, auf tausend Geschlechter hin,
Remember his covenant forever,
the word which he commanded to a thousand generations,
16
den er gemacht hat mit Abraham, und seines Eides, den er Isaak geschworen hat.
the covenant which he made with Abraham,
his oath to Isaac.
17
Und er stellte ihn Jakob zur Satzung, Israel zum ewigen Bunde,
He confirmed the same to Jacob for a statute,
and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

indem er sprach: Dir will ich das Land Kanaan geben als Schnur eures Erbteils;
saying, “I will give you the land of Canaan,
The lot of your inheritance,”
19
als ihr ein zählbares Häuflein waret, gar wenige und Fremdlinge darin.
when you were but a few men in number,
yes, very few, and foreigners were in it.
20
Und sie wanderten von Nation zu Nation und von einem Reiche zu einem anderen Volke.
They went about from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another people.
21
Er ließ niemand zu, sie zu bedrücken, und ihretwegen strafte er Könige:
He allowed no man to do them wrong.
Yes, he reproved kings for their sakes,
22
"Tastet meine Gesalbten nicht an, und meinen Propheten tut nichts Übles!"
“Don’t touch my anointed ones!
Do my prophets no harm!”

Singet Jehova, ganze Erde! Verkündet von Tag zu Tag seine Rettung!
Sing to Yahweh, all the earth!
Display his salvation from day to day.
24
Erzählet unter den Nationen seine Herrlichkeit, unter allen Völkern seine Wundertaten!
Declare his glory among the nations,
and his marvelous works among all the peoples.
25
Denn groß ist Jehova und sehr zu loben, und furchtbar ist er über alle Götter.
For great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised.
He also is to be feared above all gods.
26
Denn alle Götter der Völker sind Nichtigkeiten, aber Jehova hat die Himmel gemacht.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
but Yahweh made the heavens.
27
Majestät und Pracht sind vor seinem Angesicht, Stärke und Freude in seiner Wohnstätte.
Honor and majesty are before him.
Strength and gladness are in his place.
28
Gebet Jehova, ihr Völkerstämme, gebet Jehova Herrlichkeit und Stärke!
Ascribe to Yahweh, you relatives of the peoples,
ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength!

Gebet Jehova die Herrlichkeit seines Namens; bringet eine Opfergabe und kommet vor sein Angesicht; betet Jehova an in heiliger Pracht!
Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name.
Bring an offering, and come before him.
Worship Yahweh in holy array.

Erzittert vor ihm, ganze Erde! Auch steht der Erdkreis fest, er wird nicht wanken.
Tremble before him, all the earth.
The world also is established that it can’t be moved.
31
Es freue sich der Himmel, und es frohlocke die Erde! und man spreche unter den Nationen: Jehova regiert!
Let the heavens be glad,
and let the earth rejoice!
Let them say among the nations, “Yahweh reigns!”
32
Es brause das Meer und seine Fülle! es frohlocke das Gefilde und alles, was darauf ist!
Let the sea roar, and its fullness!
Let the field exult, and all that is in it!
33
Dann werden jubeln die Bäume des Waldes vor Jehova; denn er kommt, die Erde zu richten!
Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before Yahweh,
for he comes to judge the earth.
34
Preiset Jehova, denn er ist gütig, denn seine Güte währt ewiglich!
Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good,
for his loving kindness endures forever.
35
Und sprechet: Rette uns, Gott unserer Rettung, und sammle und befreie uns aus den Nationen; daß wir deinen heiligen Namen preisen, daß wir uns rühmen deines Lobes!
Say, “Save us, God of our salvation!
Gather us together and deliver us from the nations,
to give thanks to your holy name,
to triumph in your praise.”

Gepriesen sei Jehova, der Gott Israels, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! Und alles Volk sprach: Amen! und lobte Jehova.
Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel,
from everlasting even to everlasting.
All the people said, “Amen,” and praised Yahweh.
37
Und David ließ daselbst, vor der Lade des Bundes Jehovas, Asaph und seine Brüder, um beständig vor der Lade zu dienen nach der täglichen Gebühr;
So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required;
38
und Obed-Edom und seine Brüder, 68; und Obed-Edom, den Sohn Jeduthuns, und Hosa, als Torhüter.
and Obed-Edom with their brothers, sixty-eight; Obed-Edom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be doorkeepers;
39
Zadok, den Priester aber, und seine Brüder, die Priester, ließ er vor der Wohnung Jehovas, auf der Höhe, die zu Gibeon ist,
and Zadok the priest, and his brothers the priests, before Yahweh’s tabernacle in the high place that was at Gibeon,
40
um Jehova Brandopfer zu opfern auf dem Brandopferaltar beständig, des Morgens und des Abends, und zwar nach allem, was in dem Gesetz Jehovas geschrieben steht, das er Israel geboten hat;
to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in Yahweh’s law, which he commanded to Israel;

und mit ihnen Heman und Jeduthun und die übrigen Auserlesenen, welche mit Namen angegeben waren, um Jehova zu preisen, daß seine Güte ewiglich währt;
and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to Yahweh, because his loving kindness endures forever;

und mit ihnen, mit Heman und Jeduthun, waren Trompeten und Zimbeln für die, welche laut spielten, und die Musikinstrumente Gottes; und die Söhne Jeduthuns waren für das Tor.
and with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud, and with instruments for the songs of God; and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.

Und das ganze Volk ging hin, ein jeder nach seinem Hause; und David wandte sich, um sein Haus zu segnen.
All the people departed, each man to his house; and David returned to bless his house.

Und es geschah, als David in seinem Hause wohnte, da sprach David zu Nathan, dem Propheten: Siehe, ich wohne in einem Hause von Zedern, und die Lade des Bundes Jehovas wohnt unter Teppichen.
When David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, “Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of Yahweh’s covenant is in a tent.”

Und Nathan sprach zu David: Tue alles, was du im Herzen hast, denn Gott ist mit dir.
Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart; for God is with you.”

Und es geschah in selbiger Nacht, da geschah das Wort Gottes zu Nathan also:
That same night, the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

Gehe hin und sprich zu David, meinem Knechte: So spricht Jehova: Nicht du sollst mir das Haus zur Wohnung bauen;
“Go and tell David my servant, ‘Yahweh says, “You shall not build me a house to dwell in;

denn ich habe nicht in einem Hause gewohnt von dem Tage an, da ich Israel heraufgeführt habe, bis auf diesen Tag; sondern ich wanderte von Zelt zu Zelt und von Wohnung zu Wohnung.
for I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up Israel to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tent to another.

Wo immer ich wanderte unter ganz Israel, habe ich zu einem der Richter Israels, dem ich gebot, mein Volk zu weiden, ein Wort geredet und gesagt: Warum habt ihr mir nicht ein Haus von Zedern gebaut?
In all places in which I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, ‘Why have you not built me a house of cedar?’”’

Und nun sollst du also zu meinem Knechte David sagen: So spricht Jehova der Heerscharen: Ich habe dich von der Trift genommen, hinter dem Kleinvieh weg, daß du Fürst sein solltest über mein Volk Israel;
“Now therefore, you shall tell my servant David, ‘Yahweh of Armies says, “I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people Israel.

und ich bin mit dir gewesen überall, wohin du gegangen bist, und habe alle deine Feinde vor dir ausgerottet; und ich habe dir einen Namen gemacht, gleich dem Namen der Großen, die auf Erden sind.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

Und ich werde einen Ort setzen für mein Volk Israel und werde es pflanzen, daß es an seiner Stätte wohne und nicht mehr beunruhigt werde; und die Söhne der Ungerechtigkeit sollen es nicht mehr aufreiben, wie früher
I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more. The children of wickedness will not waste them any more, as at the first,

und seit den Tagen, da ich Richter über mein Volk Israel bestellt habe. Und ich werde alle deine Feinde demütigen; und ich tue dir kund, daß Jehova dir ein Haus bauen wird.
and from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I tell you that Yahweh will build you a house.

Und es wird geschehen, wenn deine Tage voll sind, daß du zu deinen Vätern hingehst, so werde ich deinen Samen nach dir erwecken, der von deinen Söhnen sein wird, und werde sein Königtum befestigen.
It will happen, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your offspring after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

Der wird mir ein Haus bauen; und ich werde seinen Thron befestigen auf ewig.
He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.
13
Ich will ihm Vater sein, und er soll mir Sohn sein; und ich will meine Güte nicht von ihm weichen lassen, wie ich sie von dem weichen ließ, der vor dir war.
I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will not take my loving kindness away from him, as I took it from him that was before you;
14
Und ich will ihm Bestand geben in meinem Hause und in meinem Königreich auf ewig; und sein Thron soll fest sein auf ewig.
but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever. His throne will be established forever.”’”

Nach allen diesen Worten und nach diesem ganzen Gesicht, also redete Nathan zu David.
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

Da ging der König David hinein und setzte sich vor Jehova nieder und sprach: Wer bin ich, Jehova Gott, und was ist mein Haus, daß du mich bis hierher gebracht hast?
Then David the king went in, and sat before Yahweh; and he said, “Who am I, Yahweh God, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far?

Und dies ist noch ein Geringes gewesen in deinen Augen, o Gott! und du hast auch von dem Hause deines Knechtes geredet in die Ferne hin; und du hast mich angesehen nach der Weise eines hochgestellten Menschen, Jehova Gott!
This was a small thing in your eyes, God; but you have spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have respected me according to the standard of a man of high degree, Yahweh God.

Was soll David noch weiter zu dir reden von der Ehre an deinem Knechte? Du kennst ja deinen Knecht.
What can David say yet more to you concerning the honor which is done to your servant? For you know your servant.
19
Jehova, um deines Knechtes willen und nach deinem Herzen hast du all dieses Große getan, um alle diese großen Dinge kundzutun.
Yahweh, for your servant’s sake, and according to your own heart, you have done all this greatness, to make known all these great things.
20
Jehova, niemand ist dir gleich, und kein Gott außer dir, nach allem, was wir mit unseren Ohren gehört haben.
Yahweh, there is no one like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21
Und wer ist wie dein Volk Israel, die einzige Nation auf Erden, welche Gott hingegangen ist, sich zum Volke zu erlösen, um dir einen Namen zu machen, große und furchtbare Dinge zu tun, indem du vor deinem Volke, das du aus Ägypten erlöst hast, Nationen vertriebst?
What one nation in the earth is like your people Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, to make you a name by great and awesome things, in driving out nations from before your people, whom you redeem out of Egypt?

Und du hast dir dein Volk Israel zum Volke bestimmt auf ewig; und du, Jehova, bist ihr Gott geworden.
For you made your people Israel your own people forever; and you, Yahweh, became their God.
23
Und nun, Jehova, das Wort, das du über deinen Knecht und über sein Haus geredet hast, möge sich bewähren ewiglich; und tue, wie du geredet hast!
Now, Yahweh, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, be established forever, and do as you have spoken.
24
Ja, es möge sich bewähren! und dein Name sei groß auf ewig, daß man spreche: Jehova der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, ist Gott für Israel! Und das Haus deines Knechtes David sei fest vor dir.
Let your name be established and magnified forever, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel. The house of David your servant is established before you.’

Denn du, mein Gott, hast dem Ohre deines Knechtes eröffnet, daß du ihm ein Haus bauen willst; darum hat dein Knecht sich ein Herz gefaßt, vor dir zu beten.
For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build him a house. Therefore your servant has found courage to pray before you.

Und nun, Jehova, du bist es, der da Gott ist, und du hast dieses Gute zu deinem Knechte geredet.
Now, Yahweh, you are God, and have promised this good thing to your servant.
27
Und nun, es hat dir gefallen, das Haus deines Knechtes zu segnen, daß es ewiglich vor dir sei; denn du, Jehova, hast es gesegnet, und es wird gesegnet sein ewiglich.
Now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Yahweh, have blessed, and it is blessed forever.”

Und es geschah hernach, da schlug David die Philister und demütigte sie; und er nahm Gath und seine Tochterstädte aus der Hand der Philister.
After this, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

Und er schlug die Moabiter; und die Moabiter wurden David zu Knechten, welche Geschenke brachten.
He defeated Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

Und David schlug Hadareser, den König von Zoba, bei Hamath, als er hinzog, um seine Macht am Strome Phrat zu befestigen.
David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

Und David nahm von ihm gefangen 1000 Wagen und 7000 Reiter und 20000 Mann Fußvolk; und David lähmte alle Gespanne und ließ 100 Gespanne von ihm übrig.
David took from him one thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them enough for one hundred chariots.

Und die Syrer von Damaskus kamen, um Hadareser, dem König von Zoba, zu helfen; und David erschlug unter den Syrern 22000 Mann.
When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck twenty-two thousand men of the Syrians.

Und David legte Besatzungen in das damascenische Syrien; und die Syrer wurden David zu Knechten, welche Geschenke brachten. Und Jehova half David überall, wohin er zog.
Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

Und David nahm die goldenen Schilde, welche den Knechten Hadaresers gehörten, und brachte sie nach Jerusalem.
David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8
Und aus Tibchad und aus Kun, den Städten Hadaresers, nahm David Erz in großer Menge; davon machte Salomo das eherne Meer und die Säulen und die ehernen Geräte.
From Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much brass, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

Und als Tou, der König von Hamath, hörte, daß David die ganze Heeresmacht Hadaresers, des Königs von Zoba, geschlagen hatte,
When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,

da sandte er Hadoram, seinen Sohn, zu dem König David, um ihn nach seinem Wohlergehen zu fragen und ihn zu beglückwünschen, darum daß er wider Hadareser gestritten und ihn geschlagen hatte; denn Hadareser war stets im Kriege mit Tou; und er sandte allerlei Geräte von Gold und von Silber und von Erz.
he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou); and he had with him all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

Auch diese heiligte der König David dem Jehova, samt dem Silber und dem Golde, das er von all den Nationen genommen hatte: von den Edomitern und von den Moabitern und von den Kindern Ammon und von den Philistern und von den Amalekitern.
King David also dedicated these to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, from Moab, from the children of Ammon, from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

Und Abisai, der Sohn der Zeruja, schlug die Edomiter im Salztal, 18000 Mann.
Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah struck eighteen thousand of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt.

Und er legte Besatzungen in Edom, und alle Edomiter wurden David zu Knechten. Und Jehova half David überall, wohin er zog.
He put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

Und David regierte über ganz Israel; und er übte Recht und Gerechtigkeit an seinem ganzen Volke.
David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness for all his people.
15
Und Joab, der Sohn der Zeruja, war über das Heer; und Josaphat, der Sohn Ahiluds, war Geschichtsschreiber;
Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
16
und Zadok, der Sohn Ahitubs, und Ahimelech, der Sohn Abjathars, waren Priester; und Schawscha war Schreiber;
Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; Shavsha was scribe;
17
und Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, war über die Kerethiter und die Pelethiter; und die Söhne Davids waren die ersten zur Seite des Königs.
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief officials serving the king.

Und es geschah hernach, da starb Nahas, der König der Kinder Ammon; und sein Sohn ward König an seiner Statt.
After this, Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his place.

Und David sprach: Ich will Güte erweisen an Hanun, dem Sohne Nahas', denn sein Vater hat Güte an mir erwiesen. Und David sandte Boten, um ihn wegen seines Vaters zu trösten. Und die Knechte Davids kamen in das Land der Kinder Ammon zu Hanun, um ihn zu trösten.
David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.”
So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.

Da sprachen die Fürsten der Kinder Ammon zu Hanun: Ehrt wohl David deinen Vater in deinen Augen, daß er Tröster zu dir gesandt hat? Sind nicht seine Knechte zu dir gekommen, um das Land zu erforschen und es umzukehren und auszukundschaften?
But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Haven’t his servants come to you to search, to overthrow, and to spy out the land?”

Da nahm Hanun die Knechte Davids und ließ sie scheren, und ihre Oberkleider zur Hälfte abschneiden bis ans Gesäß; und er entließ sie.
So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved them, and cut off their garments in the middle at their buttocks, and sent them away.

Und man ging und berichtete David wegen der Männer. Da sandte er ihnen entgegen, denn die Männer schämten sich sehr; und der König ließ ihnen sagen: Bleibet in Jericho, bis euer Bart gewachsen ist, dann kommet zurück.
Then some people went and told David how the men were treated. He sent to meet them; for the men were greatly humiliated. The king said, “Stay at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”

Als nun die Kinder Ammon sahen, daß sie sich bei David stinkend gemacht hatten, da sandten Hanun und die Kinder Ammon tausend Talente Silber, um sich aus Mesopotamien und aus Aram-Maaka und aus Zoba Wagen und Reiter zu dingen.
When the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent one thousand talents of silver to hire chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, out of Aram-maacah, and out of Zobah.

Und sie dingten sich 32000 Wagen, und den König von Maaka mit seinem Volke; und sie kamen und lagerten sich vor Medeba. Und die Kinder Ammon versammelten sich aus ihren Städten und kamen zum Streit.
So they hired for themselves thirty-two thousand chariots, and the king of Maacah with his people, who came and encamped near Medeba. The children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.

Und als David es hörte, sandte er Joab hin und das ganze Heer, die Helden.
When David heard of it, he sent Joab with all the army of the mighty men.

Und die Kinder Ammon zogen aus und stellten sich am Eingang der Stadt in Schlachtordnungen auf; und die Könige, die gekommen waren, waren für sich auf dem Felde.
The children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the gate of the city; and the kings who had come were by themselves in the field.

Und als Joab sah, daß der Streit von vorn und von hinten gegen ihn gerichtet war, da erwählte er von allen Auserlesenen Israels und stellte sich auf, den Syrern gegenüber;
Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose some of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.

und das übrige Volk übergab er der Hand seines Bruders Abisai, und sie stellten sich auf, den Kindern Ammon gegenüber.
The rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and they put themselves in array against the children of Ammon.
12
Und er sprach: Wenn die Syrer mir zu stark sind, so sollst du mir Hilfe leisten; und wenn die Kinder Ammon dir zu stark sind, so will ich dir helfen.
He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you are to help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.

Sei stark und laß uns stark sein für unser Volk und für die Städte unseres Gottes! und Jehova wird tun, was gut ist in seinen Augen.
Be courageous, and let us be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. May Yahweh do that which seems good to him.”
14
Da rückte Joab und das Volk, das bei ihm war, vor, den Syrern entgegen zum Streit; und sie flohen vor ihm.
So Joab and the people who were with him came near to the front of the Syrians to the battle; and they fled before him.
15
Und als die Kinder Ammon sahen, daß die Syrer geflohen waren, da flohen auch sie vor seinem Bruder Abisai und zogen sich in die Stadt zurück. Und Joab kam nach Jerusalem.
When the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.

Und als die Syrer sahen, daß sie vor Israel geschlagen waren, da sandten sie Boten hin und ließen die Syrer ausziehen, die jenseit des Stromes waren; und Schophak, der Heeroberste Hadaresers, zog vor ihnen her.
When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers, and called out the Syrians who were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer leading them.
17
Und es wurde David berichtet; da versammelte er ganz Israel und ging über den Jordan und kam wider sie; und er stellte sich wider sie auf. Und David stellte sich in Schlachtordnung auf, den Syrern gegenüber; und sie stritten mit ihm.
David was told that; so he gathered all Israel together, passed over the Jordan, came to them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.

Und die Syrer flohen vor Israel, und David tötete von den Syrern 7000 Wagenkämpfer und 40000 Mann Fußvolk; auch Schophak, den Heerobersten, tötete er.
The Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed of the Syrian men seven thousand chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and also killed Shophach the captain of the army.

Und als die Knechte Hadaresers sahen, daß sie vor Israel geschlagen waren, da machten sie Frieden mit David und dienten ihm. Und die Syrer wollten den Kindern Ammon nicht mehr helfen.
When the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with David, and served him. The Syrians would not help the children of Ammon any more.

Und es geschah zur Zeit der Rückkehr des Jahres, zur Zeit wann die Könige ausziehen, da führte Joab die Heeresmacht ins Feld und verheerte das Land der Kinder Ammon; und er kam und belagerte Rabba. David aber blieb in Jerusalem. Und Joab schlug Rabba und riß es nieder.
At the time of the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, Joab led out the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. Joab struck Rabbah, and overthrew it.

Und David nahm die Krone ihres Königs von seinem Haupte; und er fand sie ein Talent Gold an Gewicht, und Edelsteine waren daran; und sie kam auf das Haupt Davids. Und die Beute der Stadt brachte er hinaus in großer Menge.
David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it. It was set on David’s head, and he brought very much plunder out of the city.

Und das Volk, das darin war, führte er hinaus und zerschnitt sie mit der Säge und mit eisernen Dreschwagen und mit Sägen. Und also tat David allen Städten der Kinder Ammon. Und David und das ganze Volk kehrten nach Jerusalem zurück.
He brought out the people who were in it, and had them cut with saws, with iron picks, and with axes. David did so to all the cities of the children of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

Und es geschah hernach, da entstand ein Streit mit den Philistern zu Geser. Damals erschlug Sibbekai, der Huschathiter, den Sippai, einen von den Söhnen des Rapha; und sie wurden gedemütigt.
After this, war arose at Gezer with the Philistines. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, of the sons of the giant; and they were subdued.

Und wiederum entstand ein Streit mit den Philistern. Und Elchanan, der Sohn Jairs, erschlug Lachmi, den Bruder Goliaths, des Gathiters; und der Schaft seines Speeres war wie ein Weberbaum.
Again there was war with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

Und wiederum entstand ein Streit zu Gath. Da war ein Mann von großer Länge, und er hatte je sechs Finger und Zehen, zusammen 24; und auch er war dem Rapha geboren worden.
There was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six on each hand, and six on each foot; and he also was born to the giant.

Und er höhnte Israel; und Jonathan, der Sohn Schimeas, des Bruders Davids, erschlug ihn.
When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David’s brother killed him.
8
Diese wurden dem Rapha zu Gath geboren; und sie fielen durch die Hand Davids und durch die Hand seiner Knechte.
These were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

Und Satan stand auf wider Israel und reizte David an, Israel zu zählen.
Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to take a census of Israel.

Da sprach David zu Joab und zu den Obersten des Volkes: Gehet hin, zählet Israel von Beerseba bis Dan; und berichtet mir, damit ich ihre Zahl wisse.
David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, “Go, count Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know how many there are.”

Und Joab sprach: Es möge Jehova zu seinem Volke, so viele ihrer sind, hundertmal hinzufügen! Sind sie nicht alle, mein Herr König, die Knechte meines Herrn? Warum begehrt mein Herr solches? Warum soll es Israel zur Schuld werden?
Joab said, “May Yahweh make his people a hundred times as many as they are. But, my lord the king, aren’t they all my lord’s servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?”

Aber das Wort des Königs blieb fest gegen Joab. Und Joab zog aus und durchwanderte ganz Israel, und er kam nach Jerusalem zurück.
Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, then came to Jerusalem.

Und Joab gab die Zahl des gemusterten Volkes David an; und es waren in ganz Israel 1110000 Mann, die das Schwert zogen, und in Juda 470000 Mann, die das Schwert zogen.
Joab gave up the sum of the census of the people to David. All those of Israel were one million one hundred thousand men who drew a sword; and in Judah were four hundred seventy thousand men who drew a sword.

Levi aber und Benjamin musterte er nicht unter ihnen; denn das Wort des Königs war Joab ein Greuel.
But he didn’t count Levi and Benjamin among them; for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.

Und diese Sache war übel in den Augen Gottes, und er schlug Israel.
God was displeased with this thing; therefore he struck Israel.
8
Und David sprach zu Gott: Ich habe sehr gesündigt, daß ich diese Sache getan habe; und nun laß doch die Ungerechtigkeit deines Knechtes vorübergehen, denn ich habe sehr töricht gehandelt!
David said to God, “I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing. But now put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.”

Und Jehova redete zu Gad, dem Seher Davids, und sprach:
Yahweh spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,

Gehe hin und rede zu David und sprich: So spricht Jehova: Dreierlei lege ich dir vor; wähle dir eines davon, daß ich es dir tue.
“Go and speak to David, saying, ‘Yahweh says, “I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.”’”

Und Gad kam zu David und sprach zu ihm:
So Gad came to David, and said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Take your choice:
12
So spricht Jehova: Wähle dir! entweder drei Jahre Hungersnot; oder drei Monate dahingerafft zu werden vor deinen Bedrängern, und daß das Schwert deiner Feinde dich treffe; oder drei Tage das Schwert Jehovas und Pest im Lande, und daß der Engel Jehovas verderbe in allen Grenzen Israels. Und nun siehe zu, was für eine Antwort ich dem zurückbringen soll, der mich gesandt hat.
either three years of famine; or three months to be consumed before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days the sword of Yahweh, even pestilence in the land, and Yahweh’s angel destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.’”

Und David sprach zu Gad: Mir ist sehr angst! Möge ich doch in die Hand Jehovas fallen, denn seine Erbarmungen sind sehr groß; aber in die Hand der Menschen laß mich nicht fallen!
David said to Gad, “I am in distress. Let me fall, I pray, into Yahweh’s hand; for his mercies are very great. Don’t let me fall into man’s hand.”

Und Jehova sandte eine Pest unter Israel; und es fielen von Israel 70000 Mann.
So Yahweh sent a pestilence on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.
15
Und Jehova sandte den Engel nach Jerusalem, um es zu verderben. Und als er verderbte, sah es Jehova, und es reute ihn des Übels; und er sprach zu dem Engel, welcher verderbte: Genug! ziehe jetzt deine Hand ab. Der Engel Jehovas stand aber bei der Tenne Ornans, des Jebusiters.
God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. As he was about to destroy, Yahweh saw, and he relented of the disaster, and said to the destroying angel, “It is enough. Now withdraw your hand.” Yahweh’s angel was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Und als David seine Augen erhob, sah er den Engel Jehovas zwischen der Erde und dem Himmel stehen, sein Schwert gezückt in seiner Hand, ausgestreckt über Jerusalem. Da fielen David und die Ältesten, in Sacktuch gehüllt, auf ihr Angesicht.
David lifted up his eyes, and saw Yahweh’s angel standing between earth and the sky, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem.
Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.

Und David sprach zu Gott: Bin ich es nicht, der gesagt hat, das Volk zu zählen? Und ich bin es, der gesündigt und sehr übel gehandelt hat; aber diese Schafe, was haben sie getan? Jehova, mein Gott, es sei doch deine Hand wider mich und wider das Haus meines Vaters, aber nicht wider dein Volk zur Plage!
David said to God, “Isn’t it I who commanded the people to be counted? It is even I who have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O Yahweh my God, be against me, and against my father’s house; but not against your people, that they should be plagued.”

Und der Engel Jehovas sprach zu Gad, daß er zu David sage, David solle hinaufgehen, um Jehova einen Altar zu errichten auf der Tenne Ornans, des Jebusiters.
Then Yahweh’s angel commanded Gad to tell David that David should go up and raise an altar to Yahweh on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Und David ging hinauf, nach dem Worte Gads, das er im Namen Jehovas geredet hatte.
David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in Yahweh’s name.
20
Und Ornan wandte sich um und sah den Engel; und seine vier Söhne versteckten sich mit ihm. Ornan aber drosch Weizen.
Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.

Und David kam zu Ornan; und Ornan blickte hin und sah David, und er ging aus der Tenne hinaus und beugte sich vor David nieder, mit dem Antlitz zur Erde.
As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.

Und David sprach zu Ornan: Gib mir den Platz der Tenne, daß ich Jehova einen Altar darauf baue, - um volles Geld gib ihn mir, - daß die Plage von dem Volke abgewehrt werde.
Then David said to Ornan, “Give me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar to Yahweh on it. You shall sell it to me for the full price, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”

Da sprach Ornan zu David: Nimm ihn dir, und mein Herr, der König, tue, was gut ist in seinen Augen; siehe, ich gebe die Rinder zu den Brandopfern, und die Dreschwagen zum Holz, und den Weizen zum Speisopfer: alles das gebe ich.
Ornan said to David, “Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Behold, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.”

Aber der König David sprach zu Ornan: Nein, sondern kaufen will ich es um volles Geld; denn ich will nicht, was dir gehört, für Jehova nehmen und umsonst Brandopfer opfern.
King David said to Ornan, “No; but I will most certainly buy it for the full price. For I will not take that which is yours for Yahweh, nor offer a burnt offering that costs me nothing.”

Und David gab Ornan für den Platz sechshundert Sekel Gold an Gewicht.
So David gave to Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the place.
26
Und David baute daselbst Jehova einen Altar und opferte Brandopfer und Friedensopfer; und er rief zu Jehova, und er antwortete ihm mit Feuer vom Himmel auf dem Altar des Brandopfers.
David built an altar to Yahweh there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on Yahweh; and he answered him from the sky by fire on the altar of burnt offering.

Und Jehova sprach zu dem Engel, und er steckte sein Schwert wieder in seine Scheide.
Then Yahweh commanded the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath.
28
Zu jener Zeit, als David sah, daß Jehova ihm auf der Tenne Ornans, des Jebusiters, geantwortet hatte, opferte er daselbst.
At that time, when David saw that Yahweh had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.

Die Wohnung Jehovas aber, die Mose in der Wüste gemacht hatte, und der Brandopferaltar waren zu jener Zeit auf der Höhe zu Gibeon.
For Yahweh’s tabernacle, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.

Aber David vermochte nicht vor denselben hinzugehen, um Gott zu suchen; denn er war erschrocken vor dem Schwerte des Engels Jehovas.
But David couldn’t go before it to inquire of God; for he was afraid because of the sword of Yahweh’s angel.

Und David sprach: Dieses hier soll das Haus Jehovas Gottes sein, und dies der Altar zum Brandopfer für Israel.
Then David said, “This is the house of Yahweh God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”

Und David befahl, daß man die Fremdlinge versammeln solle, die im Lande Israel waren; und er stellte sie an als Steinhauer, um Quadersteine für den Bau des Hauses Gottes zu hauen.
David gave orders to gather together the foreigners who were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to cut dressed stones to build God’s house.

Und David bereitete Eisen in Menge für die Nägel zu den Torflügeln und für die Klammern; und Erz in Menge, es war nicht zu wägen;
David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and brass in abundance without weight;

und Zedernholz ohne Zahl; denn die Zidonier und die Tyrer brachten Zedernholz in Menge zu David.
and cedar trees without number, for the Sidonians and the people of Tyre brought cedar trees in abundance to David.

Und David sprach: Salomo, mein Sohn, ist noch jung und zart; und das Haus, das dem Jehova zu erbauen ist, soll überaus groß werden, zum Namen und zum Ruhm in allen Ländern: so will ich denn das Nötige für ihn bereiten. Und so bereitete David Vorrat in Menge vor seinem Tode.
David said, “Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Yahweh must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. I will therefore make preparation for it.” So David prepared abundantly before his death.

Und er rief seinen Sohn Salomo und gebot ihm, Jehova, dem Gott Israels, ein Haus zu bauen.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, the God of Israel.

Und David sprach zu Salomo: Mein Sohn! Ich selbst hatte in meinem Herzen, dem Namen Jehovas, meines Gottes, ein Haus zu bauen.
David said to Solomon his son, “As for me, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of Yahweh my God.

Aber das Wort Jehovas geschah zu mir, indem er sprach: Du hast Blut in Menge vergossen und große Kriege geführt; du sollst meinem Namen kein Haus bauen, denn viel Blut hast du vor mir zur Erde vergossen.
But Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, ‘You have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars. You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.

Siehe, ein Sohn wird dir geboren werden, der wird ein Mann der Ruhe sein, und ich werde ihm Ruhe schaffen vor allen seinen Feinden ringsum. Denn Salomo wird sein Name sein, und Frieden und Ruhe werde ich Israel geben in seinen Tagen.
Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of peace. I will give him rest from all his enemies all around; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.

Der wird meinem Namen ein Haus bauen; und er soll mir Sohn, und ich will ihm Vater sein; und ich werde den Thron seines Königtums über Israel befestigen auf ewig. -
He shall build a house for my name; and he will be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.’

Nun, mein Sohn, Jehova sei mit dir, daß es dir gelinge, und das Haus Jehovas, deines Gottes, bauest, so wie er von dir geredet hat!
Now, my son, may Yahweh be with you and prosper you, and build the house of Yahweh your God, as he has spoken concerning you.

Nur gebe dir Jehova Einsicht und Verstand, und er bestelle dich über Israel, und zwar um das Gesetz Jehovas, deines Gottes, zu beobachten!
May Yahweh give you discretion and understanding, and put you in charge of Israel; that so you may keep the law of Yahweh your God.
13
Dann wird es dir gelingen, wenn du darauf achtest, die Satzungen und die Rechte zu tun, welche Jehova dem Mose für Israel geboten hat. Sei stark und mutig, fürchte dich nicht und erschrick nicht!
Then you will prosper, if you observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which Yahweh gave Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid, and don’t be dismayed.

Und siehe, in meiner Mühsal habe ich für das Haus Jehovas 100000 Talente Gold und 1000000 Talente Silber bereitet; und das Erz und das Eisen ist nicht zu wägen, denn es ist in Menge vorhanden; auch Holz und Steine habe ich bereitet, und du wirst noch mehr hinzufügen.
Now, behold, in my affliction I have prepared for Yahweh’s house one hundred thousand talents of gold, one million talents of silver, and brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance. I have also prepared timber and stone; and you may add to them.

Und Werkleute sind bei dir in Menge: Steinhauer und Arbeiter in Stein und Holz, und allerlei Verständige in allerlei Arbeit;
There are also workmen with you in abundance, cutters and workers of stone and timber, and all kinds of men who are skillful in every kind of work;
16
das Gold, das Silber und das Erz und das Eisen ist nicht zu zählen. Mache dich auf und handle; und Jehova sei mit dir!
of the gold, the silver, the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and be doing, and may Yahweh be with you.”

Und David gebot allen Obersten Israels, seinem Sohne Salomo beizustehen:
David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,

Ist nicht Jehova, euer Gott, mit euch, und hat er euch nicht Ruhe geschafft ringsumher? Denn er hat die Bewohner des Landes in meine Hand gegeben, und das Land ist unterjocht vor Jehova und vor seinem Volke.
“Isn’t Yahweh your God with you? Hasn’t he given you rest on every side? For he has delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before Yahweh, and before his people.

Richtet nun euer Herz und eure Seele darauf, Jehova, euren Gott, zu suchen; und machet euch auf und bauet das Heiligtum Jehovas Gottes, daß ihr die Lade des Bundes Jehovas und die Geräte des Heiligtums Gottes in das Haus bringet, welches dem Namen Jehovas gebaut werden soll.
Now set your heart and your soul to follow Yahweh your God. Arise therefore, and build the sanctuary of Yahweh God, to bring the ark of Yahweh’s covenant and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built for Yahweh’s name.”

Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

Und er versammelte alle Obersten Israels und die Priester und die Leviten.
He gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

Und die Leviten wurden gezählt von dreißig Jahren an und darüber; und ihre Zahl war, Kopf für Kopf, an Männern 38000.
The Levites were counted from thirty years old and upward; and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.

Von diesen, sprach David, sollen 24000 die Aufsicht über das Werk des Hauses Jehovas führen; und 6000 sollen Vorsteher und Richter sein;
David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of Yahweh’s house, six thousand were officers and judges,

und 4000 Torhüter; und 4000, welche Jehova loben mit den Instrumenten, die ich gemacht habe, um zu loben.
four thousand were doorkeepers, and four thousand praised Yahweh with the instruments which I made for giving praise.”

Und David teilte sie in Abteilungen, nach den Söhnen Levis, nach Gerson, Kehath und Merari.
David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, Zetham, and Joel, three.

The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ households of Ladan.

The sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

Und Jachath war das Haupt, und Sina der zweite; und Jeghusch und Beria hatten nicht viele Söhne, und so bildeten sie ein Vaterhaus, eine Zählung.
Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah didn’t have many sons; therefore they became a fathers’ house in one reckoning.

Die Söhne Amrams: Aaron und Mose. Und Aaron wurde abgesondert, daß er als hochheilig geheiligt würde, er und seine Söhne auf ewig, um vor Jehova zu räuchern, ihm zu dienen und in seinem Namen zu segnen ewiglich.
The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, forever, to burn incense before Yahweh, to minister to him, and to bless in his name, forever.

Und was Mose, den Mann Gottes, betrifft, so wurden seine Söhne nach dem Stamme Levi genannt.
But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.

These were the sons of Levi after their fathers’ houses, even the heads of the fathers’ houses of those who were counted individually, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of Yahweh’s house, from twenty years old and upward.

Denn David sprach: Jehova, der Gott Israels, hat seinem Volke Ruhe geschafft, und er wohnt in Jerusalem auf ewig;
For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people; and he dwells in Jerusalem forever.

so haben auch die Leviten die Wohnung und alle ihre Geräte zu ihrem Dienste nicht mehr zu tragen.
Also the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service.”
27
Denn nach den letzten Worten Davids wurden von den Söhnen Levis diejenigen von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber gezählt.
For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were counted, from twenty years old and upward.

Denn ihre Stelle war zur Seite der Söhne Aarons für den Dienst des Hauses Jehovas betreffs der Vorhöfe und der Zellen und der Reinigung alles Heiligen, und betreffs des Werkes des Dienstes des Hauses Gottes:
For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of Yahweh’s house, in the courts, and in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;

für das Schichtbrot, und für das Feinmehl zum Speisopfer, und für die ungesäuerten Fladen, und für die Pfanne, und für das Eingerührte, und für alles Hohl- und Längenmaß;
for the show bread also, and for the fine flour for a meal offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all measurements of quantity and size;

und damit sie Morgen für Morgen hinträten, um Jehova zu preisen und zu loben, und ebenso am Abend;
and to stand every morning to thank and praise Yahweh, and likewise in the evening;
31
und um alle Brandopfer dem Jehova zu opfern an den Sabbathen, an den Neumonden und an den Festen, nach der Zahl, nach der Vorschrift darüber, beständig vor Jehova.
and to offer all burnt offerings to Yahweh, on the Sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Yahweh;

Und sie warteten der Hut des Zeltes der Zusammenkunft und der Hut des Heiligtums, und der Hut der Söhne Aarons, ihrer Brüder, für den Dienst des Hauses Jehovas.
and that they should keep the duty of the Tent of Meeting, the duty of the holy place, and the duty of the sons of Aaron their brothers, for the service of Yahweh’s house.

These were the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest’s office.

David with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them according to their ordering in their service.

Und von den Söhnen Eleasars wurden mehr Familienhäupter gefunden, als von den Söhnen Ithamars; und so teilten sie sie so ab: Von den Söhnen Eleasars sechzehn Häupter von Vaterhäusern, und von den Söhnen Ithamars acht Häupter von ihren Vaterhäusern.
There were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and they were divided like this: of the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen, heads of fathers’ houses; and of the sons of Ithamar, according to their fathers’ houses, eight.

Und zwar teilten sie sie durch Lose ab, diese wie jene; denn die Obersten des Heiligtums und die Obersten Gottes waren aus den Söhnen Eleasars und aus den Söhnen Ithamars.
Thus were they divided impartially by drawing lots; for there were princes of the sanctuary, and princes of God, both of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.

Shemaiah the son of Nethanel the scribe, who was of the Levites, wrote them in the presence of the king, the princes, Zadok the priest, Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers’ households of the priests and of the Levites; one fathers’ house being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar.

This was their ordering in their service, to come into Yahweh’s house according to the ordinance given to them by Aaron their father, as Yahweh, the God of Israel, had commanded him.

These likewise cast lots even as their brothers the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of the fathers’ households of the priests and of the Levites; the fathers’ households of the chief even as those of his younger brother.

All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

All these were under the hands of their father for song in Yahweh’s house, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and harps, for the service of God’s house; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the order of the king.

All these were of the sons of Obed-Edom: they and their sons and their brothers, able men in strength for the service; sixty-two of Obed-Edom.

Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons: Shimri the chief (for though he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him chief),

Of these were the divisions of the doorkeepers, even of the chief men, having offices like their brothers, to minister in Yahweh’s house.

Und sie warfen Lose, der Kleine wie der Große, nach ihren Vaterhäusern, für jedes Tor.
They cast lots, the small as well as the great, according to their fathers’ houses, for every gate.

Und für Schelemja fiel das Los gegen Osten. Und sie warfen Lose für seinen Sohn Sekarja, der ein verständiger Ratgeber war; und sein Los kam heraus gegen Norden.
The lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah his son, a wise counselor, they cast lots; and his lot came out northward.

This Shelomoth and his brothers were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king, and the heads of the fathers’ households, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the army, had dedicated.

They dedicated some of the plunder won in battles to repair Yahweh’s house.

All that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated, whoever had dedicated anything, it was under the hand of Shelomoth, and of his brothers.

Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges.

Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brothers, men of valor, one thousand seven hundred, had the oversight of Israel beyond the Jordan westward, for all the business of Yahweh, and for the service of the king.

Von den Hebronitern war Jerija das Haupt, von den Hebronitern, nach ihren Geschlechtern, nach den Vätern (im vierzigsten Jahre der Regierung Davids forschte man nach ihnen, und es fanden sich unter ihnen tüchtige Männer zu Jaser-Gilead);
Of the Hebronites was Jerijah the chief, even of the Hebronites, according to their generations by fathers’ households. They were sought for in the fortieth year of the reign of David, and mighty men of valor were found among them at Jazer of Gilead.

His brothers, men of valor, were two thousand seven hundred, heads of fathers’ households, whom king David made overseers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites, for every matter pertaining to God, and for the affairs of the king.

Now the children of Israel after their number, the heads of fathers’ households and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king, in any matter of the divisions which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year—of every division were twenty-four thousand.

Over the division of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and his division; and Mikloth the ruler: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

The third captain of the army for the third month was Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada the priest, chief: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

This is that Benaiah who was the mighty man of the thirty, and over the thirty: and of his division was Ammizabad his son.

The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

But David didn’t take the number of them from twenty years old and under, because Yahweh had said he would increase Israel like the stars of the sky.

Joab the son of Zeruiah began to take a census, but didn’t finish; and wrath came on Israel for this. The number wasn’t put into the account in the chronicles of king David.

Und über die Schätze des Königs war Asmaweth, der Sohn Adiels. Und über die Vorräte auf dem Felde, in den Städten und in den Dörfern und in den Türmen, war Jonathan, der Sohn Ussijas.
Over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the treasures in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah;

Over those who did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub;

and over the olive trees and the sycamore trees that were in the lowland was Baal Hanan the Gederite; and over the cellars of oil was Joash;

All these were the rulers of the property which was king David’s.

Und Jonathan, der Oheim Davids, war Rat; er war ein einsichtiger Mann und ein Schriftgelehrter. Und Jechiel, der Sohn Hakmonis, war bei den Söhnen des Königs.
Also Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of understanding, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons.

Ahithophel was the king’s counselor: and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.

After Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. Joab was the captain of the king’s army.

David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, the captains of the companies who served the king by division, the captains of thousands, the captains of hundreds, and the rulers over all the substance and possessions of the king and of his sons, with the officers and the mighty men, even all the mighty men of valor, to Jerusalem.

Und der König David erhob sich auf seine Füße und sprach: Höret mich, meine Brüder und mein Volk! Ich hatte in meinem Herzen, ein Haus der Ruhe zu bauen für die Lade des Bundes Jehovas und für den Schemel der Füße unseres Gottes; und ich schickte mich an zu bauen.
Then David the king stood up on his feet, and said, “Hear me, my brothers, and my people! As for me, it was in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, and for the footstool of our God; and I had prepared for the building.

Aber Gott sprach zu mir: Du sollst meinem Namen kein Haus bauen; denn du bist ein Kriegsmann und hast Blut vergossen.
But God said to me, ‘You shall not build a house for my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.’

Und Jehova, der Gott Israels, hat mich aus dem ganzen Hause meines Vaters erwählt, um König zu sein über Israel ewiglich; denn Juda hat er zum Fürsten erwählt, und im Hause Juda das Haus meines Vaters, und unter den Söhnen meines Vaters hat er an mir Wohlgefallen gehabt, mich zum König zu machen über ganz Israel;
However Yahweh, the God of Israel, chose me out of all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever. For he has chosen Judah to be prince; and in the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel.

und von allen meinen Söhnen (denn Jehova hat mir viele Söhne gegeben) hat er meinen Sohn Salomo erwählt, um auf dem Throne des Königtums Jehovas über Israel zu sitzen.
Of all my sons (for Yahweh has given me many sons), he has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of Yahweh’s kingdom over Israel.

Und er sprach zu mir: Salomo, dein Sohn, er soll mein Haus und meine Höfe bauen; denn ich habe ihn mir zum Sohne erwählt, und ich will ihm Vater sein.
He said to me, ‘Solomon, your son, shall build my house and my courts; for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.

Und ich werde sein Königreich befestigen auf ewig, wenn er fest daran halten wird, meine Gebote und meine Rechte zu tun, wie es an diesem Tage ist.
I will establish his kingdom forever if he continues to do my commandments and my ordinances, as it is today.’

Und nun, vor den Augen von ganz Israel, der Versammlung Jehovas, und vor den Ohren unseres Gottes: Beobachtet und suchet alle Gebote Jehovas, eures Gottes, auf daß ihr dieses gute Land besitzet und es euren Söhnen nach euch vererbet auf ewig.
Now therefore, in the sight of all Israel, Yahweh’s assembly, and in the audience of our God, observe and seek out all the commandments of Yahweh your God; that you may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children after you forever.

Und du, mein Sohn Salomo, erkenne den Gott deines Vaters und diene ihm mit ungeteiltem Herzen und mit williger Seele! Denn Jehova erforscht alle Herzen, und alles Gebilde der Gedanken kennt er. Wenn du ihn suchst, wird er sich von dir finden lassen; wenn du ihn aber verlässest, wird er dich verwerfen auf ewig.
You, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Yahweh searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

Sieh nun, daß Jehova dich erwählt hat, ihm ein Haus zu bauen zum Heiligtum; sei stark und handle!
Take heed now; for Yahweh has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong, and do it.”

Und David gab seinem Sohne Salomo das Muster der Halle des Tempels und seiner Häuser und seiner Schatzkammern und seiner Obergemächer und seiner inneren Gemächer und des Hauses des Sühndeckels;
Then David gave to Solomon his son the plans for the porch of the temple, for its houses, for its treasuries, for its upper rooms, for its inner rooms, for the place of the mercy seat;

und das Muster von allem, was durch den Geist in ihm war: betreffs der Höfe des Hauses Jehovas und aller Zellen ringsum; betreffs der Schatzkammern des Hauses Gottes und der Schatzkammern der geheiligten Dinge;
and the plans of all that he had by the Spirit, for the courts of Yahweh’s house, for all the surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of God’s house, and for the treasuries of the dedicated things;

und betreffs der Abteilungen der Priester und der Leviten und aller Dienstverrichtungen im Hause Jehovas; und betreffs aller Geräte des Dienstes im Hause Jehovas;
also for the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for all the work of the service of Yahweh’s house, and for all the vessels of service in Yahweh’s house;

betreffs des Goldes nach dem Goldgewicht für alle Geräte eines jeden Dienstes; und betreffs aller silbernen Geräte nach dem Gewicht, für alle Geräte eines jeden Dienstes.
of gold by weight for the gold, for all vessels of every kind of service; for all the vessels of silver by weight, for all vessels of every kind of service;

Und er gab das Gewicht an für die goldenen Leuchter und für ihre goldenen Lampen, nach dem Gewicht eines jeden Leuchters und seiner Lampen; und für die silbernen Leuchter nach dem Gewicht eines Leuchters und seiner Lampen, je nach dem Dienst eines jeden Leuchters;
by weight also for the lamp stands of gold, and for its lamps, of gold, by weight for every lamp stand and for its lamps; and for the lamp stands of silver, by weight for every lamp stand and for its lamps, according to the use of every lamp stand;

and the gold by weight for the tables of show bread, for every table; and silver for the tables of silver;

und die Gabeln und die Sprengschalen und die Kannen von reinem Golde; und das Gewicht für die goldenen Becher, nach dem Gewicht eines jeden Bechers, und für die silbernen Becher, nach dem Gewicht eines jeden Bechers;
and the forks, the basins, and the cups, of pure gold; and for the golden bowls by weight for every bowl; and for the silver bowls by weight for every bowl;

und für den Räucheraltar von geläutertem Golde, nach dem Gewicht; und das Muster des Wagens der Cherubim von Gold, welche die Flügel ausbreiten und die Lade des Bundes Jehovas überdecken. -
and for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the plans for the chariot, and the cherubim that spread out and cover the ark of Yahweh’s covenant.

Über dies alles, über alle Werke des Musters, sprach David, hat er mich durch Schrift unterwiesen, dadurch, daß die Hand Jehovas auf mir war.
“All this”, said David, “I have been made to understand in writing from Yahweh’s hand, even all the works of this pattern.”

Und David sprach zu seinem Sohne Salomo: Sei stark und mutig und handle; fürchte dich nicht und erschrick nicht! denn Jehova Gott, mein Gott, wird mit dir sein: er wird dich nicht versäumen und dich nicht verlassen, bis alles Werk zum Dienste des Hauses Jehovas vollendet ist.
David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do it. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed; for Yahweh God, even my God, is with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of Yahweh’s house is finished.

Und siehe, da sind die Abteilungen der Priester und der Leviten für den ganzen Dienst des Hauses Gottes; und bei dir sind in allem Werke solche, die bereitwillig und geschickt sind zu jedem Dienste, und die Obersten und das ganze Volk zu allen deinen Anordnungen.
Behold, there are the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for all the service of God’s house. Every willing man who has skill, for any kind of service, shall be with you in all kinds of work. Also the captains and all the people will be entirely at your command.”

Und der König David sprach zu der ganzen Versammlung: Salomo, mein Sohn, der einzige, den Gott erwählt hat, ist noch jung und zart; das Werk aber ist groß, denn nicht für einen Menschen ist dieser Palast, sondern für Jehova Gott.
David the king said to all the assembly, “Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great; for the palace is not for man, but for Yahweh God.

Und mit all meiner Kraft habe ich für das Haus meines Gottes bereitet: das Gold zu dem goldenen, und das Silber zu dem silbernen, und das Erz zu dem ehernen, das Eisen zu dem eisernen, und das Holz zu dem hölzernen Geräte; Onyxsteine und Steine zum Einsetzen, Steine zur Verzierung und buntfarbig, und allerlei kostbare Steine, und weiße Marmorsteine in Menge.
Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, the brass for the things of brass, iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood; also onyx stones, stones to be set, stones for inlaid work, of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.

Und überdies, weil ich Wohlgefallen habe an dem Hause meines Gottes, habe ich, was ich als eigenes Gut an Gold und Silber besitze, für das Haus meines Gottes gegeben, zu alledem hinzu, was ich für das Haus des Heiligtums bereitet habe:
In addition, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, since I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,

3000 Talente Gold von Gold aus Ophir, und 7000 Talente geläutertes Silber, zum Überziehen der Wände der Häuser;
even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses;

Gold zu dem goldenen und Silber zu dem silbernen Geräte, und zu allem Werke von Künstlerhand. Wer ist nun bereitwillig, heute seine Hand für Jehova zu füllen?
of gold for the things of gold, and of silver for the things of silver, and for all kinds of work to be made by the hands of artisans. Who then offers willingly to consecrate himself today to Yahweh?”

Und die Obersten der Väter und die Obersten der Stämme Israels, und die Obersten über tausend und über hundert, und die Obersten über die Geschäfte des Königs zeigten sich bereitwillig;
Then the princes of the fathers’ households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king’s work, offered willingly;

und sie gaben für die Arbeit des Hauses Gottes 5000 Talente Gold und 10000 Dariken, und 10000 Talente Silber, und 18000 Talente Erz, und 100000 Talente Eisen.
and they gave for the service of God’s house of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand darics, of silver ten thousand talents, of brass eighteen thousand talents, and of iron one hundred thousand talents.

Und bei welchem sich Edelsteine vorfanden, die gaben sie zum Schatze des Hauses Jehovas in die Hand Jechiels, des Gersoniters.
People with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of Yahweh’s house, under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.

Und das Volk freute sich über ihre Bereitwilligkeit, denn mit ungeteiltem Herzen zeigten sie sich bereitwillig für Jehova; und auch der König David freute sich mit großer Freude.
Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to Yahweh; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

Und David pries Jehova vor den Augen der ganzen Versammlung, und David sprach: Gepriesen seiest du, Jehova, Gott unseres Vaters Israel, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit!
Therefore David blessed Yahweh before all the assembly; and David said, “You are blessed, Yahweh, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever.

Dein, Jehova, ist die Größe und die Stärke und der Ruhm und der Glanz und die Pracht; denn alles im Himmel und auf Erden ist dein. Dein, Jehova, ist das Königreich, und du bist über alles erhaben als Haupt;
Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, Yahweh, and you are exalted as head above all.

und Reichtum und Ehre kommen von dir, und du bist Herrscher über alles; und in deiner Hand sind Macht und Stärke, und in deiner Hand ist es, alles groß und stark zu machen.
Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all! In your hand is power and might! It is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all!

Und nun, unser Gott, wir preisen dich, und wir rühmen deinen herrlichen Namen.
Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name.

Denn wer bin ich, und was ist mein Volk, daß wir vermöchten, auf solche Weise freigebig zu sein? Denn von dir kommt alles, und aus deiner Hand haben wir dir gegeben.
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.

Denn wir sind Fremdlinge vor dir und Beisassen, wie alle unsere Väter; wie ein Schatten sind unsere Tage auf Erden, und keine Hoffnung ist da, hienieden zu bleiben.
For we are strangers before you, and foreigners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no remaining.

Jehova, unser Gott, alle diese Menge, die wir bereitet haben, um dir ein Haus zu bauen für deinen heiligen Namen, von deiner Hand ist sie, und das alles ist dein.
Yahweh our God, all this store that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name comes from your hand, and is all your own.

Und ich weiß, mein Gott, daß du das Herz prüfst und Wohlgefallen hast an Aufrichtigkeit: Ich nun, in Aufrichtigkeit meines Herzens habe ich alles dieses bereitwillig gegeben; und ich habe jetzt mit Freuden gesehen, daß dein Volk, welches sich hier befindet, dir bereitwillig gegeben hat.
I know also, my God, that you try the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things. Now I have seen with joy your people, who are present here, offer willingly to you.

Jehova, Gott unserer Väter Abraham, Isaak und Israel, bewahre dieses ewiglich als Gebilde der Gedanken des Herzens deines Volkes, und richte ihr Herz zu dir!
Yahweh, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this desire forever in the thoughts of the heart of your people, and prepare their heart for you;

Und meinem Sohne Salomo gib ein ungeteiltes Herz, deine Gebote, deine Zeugnisse und deine Satzungen zu beobachten, und alles zu tun und den Palast zu bauen, den ich vorbereitet habe.
and give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision.”

Und David sprach zu der ganzen Versammlung: Preiset doch Jehova, euren Gott! Und die ganze Versammlung pries Jehova, den Gott ihrer Väter; und sie neigten sich und beugten sich nieder vor Jehova und vor dem König.
Then David said to all the assembly, “Now bless Yahweh your God!”
All the assembly blessed Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads and prostrated themselves before Yahweh and the king.

Und am nächstfolgenden Tage opferten sie Schlachtopfer dem Jehova, und opferten Brandopfer dem Jehova: tausend Farren, tausend Widder, tausend Schafe, und ihre Trankopfer, und Schlachtopfer in Menge für ganz Israel.
They sacrificed sacrifices to Yahweh, and offered burnt offerings to Yahweh, on the next day after that day, even one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, and one thousand lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel,

Und sie aßen und tranken vor Jehova an selbigem Tage mit großer Freude; und sie machten Salomo, den Sohn Davids, zum zweiten Male zum König und salbten ihn Jehova zum Fürsten, und salbten Zadok zum Priester.
and ate and drank before Yahweh on that day with great gladness. They made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him before Yahweh to be prince, and Zadok to be priest.

Und so setzte sich Salomo auf den Thron Jehovas als König an seines Vaters David Statt, und er hatte Gedeihen; und ganz Israel gehorchte ihm.
Then Solomon sat on the throne of Yahweh as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

Und alle Fürsten und die Helden, und auch alle Söhne des Königs David unterwarfen dich dem König Salomo.
All the princes, the mighty men, and also all of the sons of king David submitted themselves to Solomon the king.
25
Und Jehova machte Salomo überaus groß vor den Augen von ganz Israel; und er gab ihm eine königliche Pracht, wie sie vor ihm auf keinem König über Israel gewesen war.
Yahweh magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and gave to him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

So regierte David, der Sohn Isais, über ganz Israel.
Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
27
Und die Tage, die er über ganz Israel regierte, waren vierzig Jahre; zu Hebron regierte er sieben Jahre, und zu Jerusalem regierte er 33 Jahre.
The time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

Und er starb in gutem Alter, satt an Tagen, Reichtum und Ehre. Und Salomo, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.
He died at a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.

Und die Geschichte des Königs David, die erste und die letzte, siehe, sie ist geschrieben in der Geschichte Samuels, des Sehers, und in der Geschichte Nathans, des Propheten, und in der Geschichte Gads, des Schauers;
Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Samuel the seer, and in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the history of Gad the seer,

nebst seiner ganzen Regierung und seiner Macht, und den Zeiten, die über ihn und über Israel und über alle Königreiche der Länder ergangen sind.
with all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
