The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place; and he made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Yes, amen.

Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands,

and he had in his right hand seven stars, and from his mouth a sharp two-edged sword was proceeding, and his face was like the sun shining in its full strength.

Revelation 4 — The throne-room: 24 elders + 4 living creatures

After these things I looked, and behold, a door opened in heaven, and the first voice that I had heard speaking with me like a trumpet said: "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things."
To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, he that walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks:

At once I came to be in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, and one seated on the throne.
I know thy works, and thy toil and patience, and that thou canst not bear evil men, and didst try them that call themselves apostles, and they are not, and didst find them false;

And the one seated was in appearance like jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that in appearance was like an emerald.

And from the throne proceed lightnings and voices and thunders, and seven torches of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God,
Remember therefore whence thou art fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I come to thee, and will move thy candlestick out of its place, except thou repent.

and before the throne was something like a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind.
But this thou hast, that thou hatest the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

And the first living creature was like a lion, and the second living creature was like an ox, and the third living creature had a face like a man's, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. To him that overcometh, to him will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.

And the four living creatures, each of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and they have no rest day and night, saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come."
And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These things saith the first and the last, who was dead, and lived [again]:

And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
I know thy tribulation, and thy poverty (but thou art rich), and the blasphemy of them that say they are Jews, and they art not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

the twenty-four elders fall down before the one seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever, and they cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer: behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

"Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Revelation 6 — The seven seals: Four Horsemen + cosmic-signs

And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder: "Come!"
And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars: I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and thou art dead.

And I looked, and behold, a white horse, and the one seated on it had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.
Be thou watchful, and establish the things that remain, which were ready to die: for I have found no works of thine perfected before my God.

And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying: "Come!"
Remember therefore how thou hast received and didst hear; and keep [it], and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

And another horse came out, fiery red, and to the one seated on it was given to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and a great sword was given to him.
But thou hast a few names in Sardis that did not defile their garments: and they shall walk with me in white; for they are worthy.

And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying: "Come!" And I looked, and behold, a black horse, and the one seated on it had a balance in his hand.
He that overcometh shall thus be arrayed in white garments; and I will in no wise blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying: "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine."
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.

And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying: "Come!"
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth and none shall shut, and that shutteth and none openeth:

And I looked, and behold, a pale green horse, and the one seated on it — his name was Death, and Hades was following with him. And authority was given to them over a quarter of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.
I know thy works (behold, I have set before thee a door opened, which none can shut), that thou hast a little power, and didst keep my word, and didst not deny my name.

And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness that they had borne.
Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan, of them that say they are Jews, and they are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

And they cried out with a loud voice, saying: "How long, O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"
Because thou didst keep the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of trial, that [hour] which is to come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

And a white robe was given to each of them, and they were told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
I come quickly: hold fast that which thou hast, that no one take thy crown.

And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became like blood,
He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out thence no more: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God, and mine own new name.

and the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind,
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.

and the heaven was split apart like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:
καὶ kai ὁ ho οὐρανὸς ouranos ἀπεχωρίσθη apechōristhē ὡς hōs βιβλίον biblion ἑλισσόμενον, helissomenon, καὶ kai πᾶν pan ὄρος oros καὶ kai νῆσος nēsos ἐκ ek τῶν tōn τόπων topōn αὐτῶν autōn ἐκινήθησαν. ekinēthēsan.

And the kings of the earth and the magnates and the military commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

and they say to the mountains and to the rocks: "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of the one seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,
So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth.

for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art the wretched one and miserable and poor and blind and naked:
ὅτι hoti ἦλθεν ēlthen ἡ hē ἡμέρα hēmera ἡ hē μεγάλη megalē τῆς tēs ὀργῆς orgēs αὐτῶν, autōn, καὶ kai τίς tis δύναται dynatai σταθῆναι; stathēnai?
