Wheel of Heaven Translation
The canon-cited psalms: 8, 19, 33, 139 and 147
Direct
Established or uncontested across mainstream sources, or a direct description of the project itself.
The MethodThe Psalms (Hebrew Tehillim, "Praises") are Israel's book of song and prayer. This translation covers the five psalms that the Raëlian canon cites:
- Psalm 8: the majesty of YHWH's name, and a mortal made "a little less than Elohim"
- Psalm 19: the skies recount the glory of El, and the law of YHWH
- Psalm 33: YHWH looks down from the heavens on all the sons of the human
- Psalm 139: YHWH has searched me and known me
- Psalm 147: he counts the number of the stars
At 8:6 the Hebrew mēʾĕlōhîm has no article, and the line keeps it so: "a little less than Elohim". The Greek and the older English versions read "angels"; the notes give both. Verses with a note end in a bracketed marker [ ]; select it to open the note.

Editorial history
Review record. All five chapter files carry status: stable (v1.0.0) with a named human reviewer (zarazinsfuss), signed off on 2026-11-01 in the Writings wave (W1) of the canon-cited program. The editor report, the reviewer reports in the chapter files and the sign-off package (data-library/psalms-woh/wave-w1-signoff-package.md) record every decision.
Selection. Part of the program to translate, as whole chapters, every biblical chapter that the three Raëlian canon books (The Book Which Tells the Truth, Extra-Terrestrials Took Me to Their Planet, Let's Welcome the Extra-Terrestrials) cite. With this release the program is complete: 87 chapters.
Conventions. Proper names are in their English forms. Šāmayim is "skies" or "heaven(s)" by register, šəḥāqîm "clouds", ḥesed "kindness", and bənê hāʾādām "the sons of the human". Psalm verse numbers follow the Hebrew, where the heading is verse 1. The canon's readings appear only in notes headed "Wheel of Heaven reading (reception note, not a translation claim)".
Production. Drafted by Claude Opus 5.5 and taken through the Wheel of Heaven Translation Program pipeline (Translator → Editor → Reviewer → human sign-off). Central glossary 2.84.0–2.90.0; psalms-woh overlay v1.0.0. Reference translation: ASV (1901). Methodology: Source-Text Translation.
Superscription, counted as v 1 in the Masoretic numbering, so every verse of Ps 8 is one number ahead of the ASV (MT 8:6 = ASV 8:5;
mt-baseline-versification-and-psalm-numbering-writings). The refIds and the canon's citation ('Psaumes VIII-6') follow the MT. lamnaṣṣēaḥ 'For the Chief Musician' (ASV; NRSV 'To the leader') is the Piel participle of nṣḥ 'direct, oversee'. ʿal-haggittît 'set to the Gittith' names an instrument or tune whose sense is lost (LXX 'over the winepresses', reading gittôt). mizmôr lĕdāwid 'A Psalm of David': lĕ- may mark authorship, dedication or a collection, and English 'of' keeps the ambiguity (psalm-superscription-terms-psalms;proper-names-english-forms-convention-writings).
