Joshua
Wheel of Heaven Translation
The canon-cited chapters of Joshua: the captain of the host of YHWH, the fall of Yericho (Jericho), and the sun standing still at Giv'on (Gibeon)
Direct
Established or uncontested across mainstream sources, or a direct description of the project itself.
The MethodJoshua (Hebrew Yehoshua) tells of Israel's entry into Canaan. This translation covers the three chapters that the Raëlian canon cites:
- Joshua 5: circumcision at Gilgal, the end of the manna, and the captain of the host of YHWH before Yericho (Jericho)
- Joshua 6: the fall of Yericho
- Joshua 10: the great stones from the skies and the sun standing still at Giv'on (Gibeon)
At 5:14 Yehoshua "fell on his face to the ground and bowed down": the narrative leaves the figure's status open, and the line does not decide it. Ḥērem is "devoted" and "devote to destruction" throughout, so the ban announced at 6:17 can be followed through the refrain of chapter 10. Editorial history
Review record. All three chapter files carry status: stable (v1.0.0) with a named human reviewer (zarazinsfuss), signed off on 2026-11-01 in the Former Prophets wave (FP1) of the canon-cited program. The editor report, the reviewer reports in the chapter files and the sign-off package (data-library/joshua-woh/wave-fp1-signoff-package.md) record every decision.
Selection. Part of the program to translate, as whole chapters, every biblical chapter that the three Raëlian canon books (The Book Which Tells the Truth, Extra-Terrestrials Took Me to Their Planet, Let's Welcome the Extra-Terrestrials) cite. With this release the program is complete: 87 chapters.
Conventions. As in the Kings volumes, proper names are transliterated from the Hebrew with "-ite" gentilics, and each chapter title gives the English form. Šāmayim is "skies" or "heaven(s)" by register; ḥērem is "devote(d) to destruction". The Masoretic text is kept throughout, with one ratified exception at 1 Samuel 6:18, where the Hebrew cannot be construed. The canon's readings appear only in notes headed "Wheel of Heaven reading (reception note, not a translation claim)".
Production. Drafted by Claude Opus 5.5 and taken through the Wheel of Heaven Translation Program pipeline (Translator → Editor → Reviewer → human sign-off). Central glossary 2.84.0–2.90.0; joshua-woh overlay v1.0.0. Reference translation: ASV (1901). Methodology: Source-Text Translation.
hāʾĕmōrî ... hakkənaʿănî 'the Emorites ... the Kena'anites' (collective singular gentilics; ASV 'the Amorites ... the Canaanites') under the '-ite' rule of
hebrew-proper-name-transliteration-convention-former-prophets. genesis-woh writes 'the Emori', 'the Kena'ani' (centralten-nations-of-canaan) and exodus-woh 'the Amorite', 'the Canaanite'; the difference is listed for the founder in the wave report. Yarden = Jordan; Yisra'el = Israel.ʿaḏ-ʿoḇrām 'until they had crossed over' translates the Qere. The Ketiv ʿbrnw reads 'until we had crossed over', which the ASV follows ('until we were passed over'), perhaps as the voice of the generation that crossed (
