Deuteronomy 4: the voice from the fire at Horeb and the warning against images
Direct
Established or uncontested across mainstream sources, or a direct description of the project itself.
The MethodDeuteronomy (Hebrew Devarim, "Words") is Moses' farewell address on the plains of Moab. This translation covers Deuteronomy 4, the chapter that the Raëlian canon cites: the people heard a voice out of the fire at Horeb but "saw no likeness"; they are warned against making images and against bowing down to the sun, the moon and "all the host of the heavens"; and Moses sets apart three cities of refuge.
The physical sky is "skies" (4:11, 17, 19, 32) and YHWH's realm "heavens" (4:36, 39). At 4:32, "since the day that the Elohim created humankind upon the earth", bārāʾ is "create": the corpus keeps the Genesis rendering "shape" for Genesis alone. Deuteronomy 4 — 'You saw no likeness': the voice from the fire, the warning against images, and the cities of refuge
Editorial history
Review record. The chapter file carries status: stable (v1.0.0) with a named human reviewer (zarazinsfuss), signed off on 2026-11-01 in the Torah wave (T1) of the canon-cited program. The editor report, the reviewer reports in the chapter files and the sign-off package (data-library/exodus-woh/wave-t1-signoff-package.md) record every decision.
Selection. Part of the program to translate, as whole chapters, every biblical chapter that the three Raëlian canon books (The Book Which Tells the Truth, Extra-Terrestrials Took Me to Their Planet, Let's Welcome the Extra-Terrestrials) cite. With this release the program is complete: 87 chapters.
Conventions. The Torah volumes keep the names of the published Exodus ('Moses', 'Mitsrayim'); other names are transliterated. Šāmayim is "skies" for the physical sky and "heaven(s)" for YHWH's realm. Tôrâ is "law", tərûmâ "oblation", ḥērem "devote(d) to destruction", and the Hishtaphel of ḥwh "bow down". Ketiv/Qere sites translate the Qere and record the Ketiv. The canon's readings appear only in notes headed "Wheel of Heaven reading (reception note, not a translation claim)".
Production. Drafted by Claude Opus 5.5 and taken through the Wheel of Heaven Translation Program pipeline (Translator → Editor → Reviewer → human sign-off). Central glossary 2.84.0–2.90.0; deuteronomy-woh overlay v1.0.0. Reference translation: ASV (1901). Methodology: Source-Text Translation.
